There is this girl in my office who keeps talking about her several Rakhi brothers. I find it strange. Why make a brother out of a random man?
Or may be, Rakhi brother is euphemism for something?

One Rupee

It is easier to write about money than to acquire it; and those who gain it make great sport of those who only know how to write about it. - Voltaire
At the fuel station, I got the air levels checked. The boy looked at me most expectantly to give him some money. I rummaged through my bag and found that I had no change. He stared at my ears and I drove out. I then realized that I was wearing my favourite one rupee coin ear-rings today. It is rather ugly looking, but I wear it because it annoys everyone around.

Bloggers without Humour
12 02 2008I have been doing a lot of Blog reading lately. And I am sorry to say this, but I find a large number of Bloggers to be very humourless people. One might point out that, I am not about sparkling wit and full of humour myself, but lets just say that, it puts me in a better position to identify kindred souls. The women Bloggers are better though, even if they are altogether too clever.
This Blogger makes a compelling case of why not to fall in love with a Blogger. If I was one of those early Bloggers, I might have found it useful. Now it is a tad too late.

Self-Deprecation
1 02 2008Self deprecation totally sucks. It is a rather unattractive quality to possess. Several people seem to think it is religion. Some men think that being self deprecatory enhances their sexuality.
There is nothing more unattractive than a self-deprecatory man. I have an urge to violently shake them up or cause them bodily harm when perfectly intelligent and interesting men do the self-deprecation bit.
It is okay for women to do that though. One is merely fishing. And it does no harm to anybody if one is told that, one is indeed fabulous. It is my favourite sport.

Dubious
1 02 2008Appa loves to use that word.
It is the most versatile word EVER.
Dubious fellow, he says about The Boy.
Dubious means, he says of my neighbour, who is buying yet another large property in an upscale area.
Dubious going-ons, he says about the general state of the nation and after too much news channel viewing.
Dubious. Dubious. Dubious.
Yesterday while we were driving back from some reception, he announced that the bride and groom’s alliance had been fixed under dubious circumstances. I woke up from my immense boredom in the back-seat and found a sudden burst of energy at the prospect of some scandal.
Amma gave appa a kick and asked him to concentrate on driving and not put any more dubious ideas inside my head. This led to appa losing control of the car and the deck hitting the road divider.
The garage guy tells Appa that this is going to make him poorer by eight thousand rupees.
Dubious fellow, Appa muttered.
Clearly, I am surrounded by freaks. Is it any wonder then, I turned out the way that I have?
I confronted Appa on his obsession to use the D word as often, and told him that it was annoying. He pointed out that, it is as annoying my D word.
You mean Duck, I asked him.
No. I mean DILLIGAF, he said empathically.
Hell, you don’t even know what that means Appa, I said dismissively.
I sure do – Does It Look Like I Give A Fuck, he announced smugly.
Umm, and you found out how?
I Googled. What else.
Darn. You are sleuthing on me appa. I can’t even be free any more. What about my own space?
I also don’t like the F word, he said.
You mean Fuck? Bleh.
No. I mean free, he announced and dismissed me by going back to the Op-Ed page of the newspaper.
What can I say?
Fuck.
